Patient Access Specialist


Snelling Staffing is in search of a part time Patient Access Specialist for a hospital located in Allegan, MI. The part time Patient Access Specialist performs various tasks directly related to collecting and analyzing of data for the process of registering Inpatients/Outpatients, discharge services with cash collections, distribution of all legal documents pertaining to Patient Access. This position is critical in working with all departments within and outside of the hospital to collect and report correct patient demographics and insurance information.

There are 2 part time positions available:
1.) 7:00am to 3:30pm, 5 shifts every 2 weeks, includes every other weekend
2.) 2:00pm to 10:30pm, 5 shifts every 2 weeks, includes every other weekend

Core responsibilities of the Part Time Patient Access Specialist:

  • Interview and register all outpatients and inpatients by collecting accurate patient and insurance information.
  • Enter all patient information into the computer system accurately.
  • Obtain all necessary signatures/legal consent for treatment or admission.
  • Contact insurance carriers as required by insurance contract to gain approval for services.
  • Contact all scheduled self pay patients to make arrangements for payment.
  • Accurately maintain checks on all scheduled services updating all insurances and demographics.
  • Switchboard- accurately answer, page, beep, transfer calls and assist with voicemail.
  • Maintain positive attitude, speech and appearance.
  • Accept payment from patients.


Qualifications for a Part Time Patient Access Specialist:
  • Computer literate.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask with accuracy.
  • High school diploma.
  • Medical experience background.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
